How to Glitter a Shirt with Mod Podge

Learn how to glitter a shirt with Mod Podge and make an old piece new again! You can even wash if you use Fabric Mod Podge.

I’m not nearly done with the glitter projects – I just can’t help it. There are too many amazing projects to feature. Yesterday it was a glitter clutch, but did you know that you can do it to fabric as well?

Stars for Streetlights recently featured a tutorial on how to glitter a shirt with pretty gold accents, and it looks designer . . . I can’t believe it was done with Mod Podge. So of course I had to share! Are you interested in how to glitter a shirt of your very own? Go here.

PS – You will not be able to wash a shirt like this if you use regular Mod Podge, but you can hand wash or delicate cycle if you use Fabric Mod Podge.

How to Add Glitter to Fabric

Yield: 1 shirt

Materials

• Shirt
• Fabric Mod Podge
• Painter's tape
• Glitter

Tools

• Paintbrush or spouncers
• Container for mixing
• Iron (optional)

Instructions

1. Lay out your shirt and make sure the collar is flat. If your shirt needs ironing, do it at this time so there are no folds.
2. Mix the glitter with Mod Podge in a small dish. I would say a good ratio is 1:1.
3. Tape off the portion you are going to be Mod Podging and start applying your mixture. Let the first layer dry and then apply more in areas that aren't covered.
4. Repeat until the desired areas are covered and let dry completely before wearing.

Notes

The project is machine washable in cold water on the gentle cycle or by hand after 72 hours, and line dry.
