Let's dig into the details. I'm so excited to share with you – this formula is life changing.
Mod Podge Spray
The coolest thing about this product s that it is a Mod Podge spray – meaning, it is MP in a pump bottle that you can spray onto your surface!
I know you've had those moments where you've wanted to ditch the brushes and water – Ultra makes it possible. Of course, you can use it with a brush too. The FAQ is below.
What is Mod Podge Ultra?
Ultra is a super strong, non-toxic Mod Podge spray formula that works as all-in-one glue and sealer with a high adhesion level – perfect for adding dimensional design embellishments to your projects.
This versatile, water-based spray formula dries quickly and naturally self-levels, leaving no brush marks. Manufactured in both matte and gloss finishes, it is also available in both 4 oz. and 8 oz. spray bottles. This formula cleans up easily with soap and water.
What surfaces can I use Mod Podge Ultra on?
Ultra can be used on most craft project surfaces including wood, terra cotta, tin, canvas, sculptures, papier-mâché, and more. It can be used on fabric, glass or ceramics for decorative purposes only.
What kind of items can I apply to a project surface when using this formula?
Almost anything can be applied to a project surface when using Mod Podge Ultra, including design elements such as: decorative papers, tissue paper, fabric, magazine cutouts, computer printouts, newspaper, scrapbooking embellishments, copies of photographs, 3D dimensional elements such as sand, shells, twine, ribbons, small pebbles, loose glitter particles, and so much more!
- Ink-jet printouts – Before using Mod Podge, we recommend sealing with a matte acrylic sealer to prevent ink smearing. Spray a very light coat, let dry and spray again.
- Photographs – We recommend making a color copy with a dry toner copier before using Mod Podge.
Can I mix Mod Podge Ultra with water?
No. Water can substantially reduce or eliminate the adhesive properties of this product. I don't dillute any Podge with water – it's just not recommended!
Do I need to stir or shake before using it?
To fully incorporate the product, Mod Podge Ultra should be gently shaken for 15 seconds prior to use.
If the Mod Podge Ultra “sputters” when first sprayed, what should I do?
It is always best to “test spray,” away from the project surface, before actually spraying onto the project surface. Prime the nozzle with a few pumps before spraying over the project.
How should I prepare my creative space before working with Mod Podge Ultra?
Layer the work surface with newspapers or a drop cloth and/or elevate the project from the work table using bottle caps or position your project over a wire rack.
How should Mod Podge Ultra be applied to a craft surface?
Ultra is best applied to a project surface by evenly spraying the surface while moving the bottle left to right.
Work in small sections at a time to fully wet the surface. Immediately place all design elements onto the wet surface.
To prevent an excess application and/or drips, it is best to apply several thin coats rather than one thick coat. NOTE: this formula can also be either brushed or poured onto a project surface, if desired.
How long does it take for Mod Podge Ultra to thoroughly dry?
After applying Mod Podge Ultra, the project surface may take four to 24 hours to thoroughly dry. It is best to keep the project surface flat until the Mod Podge Ultra has set. Once set and thoroughly dry, all 3D items will be secure.
Should I topcoat a Mod Podge Ultra project surface?
Ultra can be used as a topcoat once the project surface is thoroughly dry. Simply spray, brush-on, or pour on an additional application for an added scratch-resistant, durable finish. You don't need anything separate.
How long will it take my project to cure?
With a medium coat, the project should cure within 24 hours. Allow for longer curing times if applying thicker coats.
I live in the Pacific Northwest, and when it's not raining it's actually quite dry. I find my projects dry in about 4 hours and fully cure in about 8.

Ultra is formulated to dry non-tacky and will not leave a sticky finish.
Can it be used on outdoor surfaces and projects?
Yes, Mod Podge Ultra can be use on both indoor and outdoor project surfaces as it is water-resistant and offers UV protection.
How should I clean up after using Mod Podge Ultra?
If applicators or brushes were used to apply, clean all tools immediately after use, while still wet, using soap and water.
NOTE: It is also best to remove the nozzle spray head from the bottle to thoroughly clean it immediately after each use by rinsing the nozzle and pumping clean water through the spray head.
How do I care for my finished project?
Lightly wipe your Mod Podge Ultra project with a dampened, lint-free rag. The surface cannot be scrubbed or washed.
How can I clean a spill from fabric or clothing?
A wet spill on fabrics must be washed immediately with soap and water when wet. If allowed to dry, the Ultra will set and will not be removable from clothing.
